Hopper Kadé – Our Story
Where are you made of?
These days we’re all culture hoppers. Where we’re from isn’t important – it’s who we choose to be that counts.
Whether it’s music, style or food, we create our personal identity through the places we love, and the choices we make. So try something new – you never know where it could take you.
Just like Australia, Sri Lanka is a country that draws on many influences. It’s original name, Serendip, is the origin for the word ‘serendipity’.
Driven by the unique natural ingredients of the island, Sri Lankan food fuses the best of Indian and Indonesian dishes with British, French, Dutch and Portuguese influences.
Our take on Sri Lankan
As third culture kids, at Hopper Kade we’ve added our own unique twist to these classic flavour profiles, creating a range of healthy dishes, perfectly suited to the Australian climate.
From delicate aromas, to fire-in-the-belly goodness, our curry-based dishes hero healthy ingredients and authentic flavour profiles. They’ll put a smile on your face, without putting a dent in your wallet.
A wholesome alternative
We’re open to all. Most of our food is vegan friendly, gluten and dairy free and cooked without ghee or refined sugar. It means vegetarians, vegans, celiacs and omnivores can all find plenty to enjoy together, while our menu will appeal to those taking care of their dosha on the aryuveda diet.
Made fresh to order from light, fermented rice-flour batter, our hoppers are naturally probiotic, aiding with digestion.
We’re in good company
After bringing a touch of Sri Lanka to Glebe’s Tramsheds, and perfecting our craft in our Surry Hills restaurant, we’re proud to be part of Maker’s Dozen. Bursting with personality and flavour, Maker’s Dozen is a collective of innovative Australian eateries showcasing their creativity in The Exchange, Darling Square.
Nestled between Darling Harbour and Central Station, Darling Square is one of Sydney’s most dynamic neighbourhoods. Just follow The Goods Line down from Central and turn right to find our new home. We can’t wait to see you.
